The Fall Entrance Ceremony was held on September 13, 2025. This ceremony was for new students in the English Degree Programs, where all classes are conducted in English.
President Diana Khor welcomed the new students in her address, stating, “Breaking of traditions — willingness to take risks and create something new — is itself the tradition of Hosei University. Throughout our history, we have held fast to the values of freedom and progress, captured in the phrase “Practical Wisdom for Freedom” in the Hosei University Charter of 2016. Personally, I would phrase this as “living out freedom.” To live out freedom is to use it not only for oneself, but also to help make the world a better place. With “freedom” as our key word, our aim is a diverse, just, and inclusive society where everyone can live out freedom through free thought and the capacity to act. It means being mindful not only of oneself, but of how one’s actions can help create a society that is easier for many others to live in. During your time at Hosei University, I encourage you to develop the ability to make well-informed and rational judgments. Study in depth, think critically, and train yourself to see things from different angles. And if you have doubts or questions, never hesitate to ask your professors. Take pride in being a Hosei University student. Learn fearlessly, challenge yourself boldly, and make the most of this time to build a strong foundation for your future.”
This was followed by a welcome speech given by a current student representative and an entrance speech given by a new student representative. At the end of the ceremony, all the participants listened to the school song.
Congratulations to all the new students!
